Is it ever okay to lie on your C.V.?

Following the recent news that a major Yahoo shareholder got caught after lying about the computing degree he never actually earned, we ponder whether it’s ever okay to provide false information on your C.V.

The short answer to this question is: no. If Yahoo CEO Scott Thompson couldn’t get away with it, chances are you might find yourself in a similar mess if you decide to tell porky pies on your C.V.

‘But nobody would look that closely into my past!’, I hear you cry. Be that as it may, by lying on your C.V. you might not only be fooling your employer, but yourself, too. After all, if you feel so strongly that you should lie about your past accomplishments, perhaps you should consider that, just maybe, you’re just not the right person for this job.
