Thai folk art takes out Geelong Contemporary art prize

The gallery declares Rob McHaffie's 'bright and whimsical work' as winner of its 2014 art prize.

McHaffie’s work was announced the winner at the exhibition opening on 29 August by Charlotte Day, guest judge and Director of the Monash University Museum of Art.

The oil and linen painting depicts a singular figure of an elderly man, reminiscent of Asian show puppets and temple paintings.
