Bayside City Council
Volunteer at Melbourne Sculpture Biennale 2026 - One of Victoria’s most exciting new visual arts events
Bayside City Council is seeking volunteers to support the free exhibition between 8 to 25 October 2026.
After the success of the inaugural edition, Melbourne Sculpture Biennale will return for a second edition from 8 – 25 October this year in Brighton, with the support of Principle Partner, Bayside City Council.
The historic Billilla Mansion will transform into a vibrant hub for contemporary art and community engagement, bringing together a group of leading artists who will create sculptural installations in response to the significant historic site.
This partnership brings one of Victoria’s most exciting new visual arts events to Bayside, offering residents and visitors a rare chance to experience contemporary sculpture in one of Bayside’s most significant heritage settings prior to its refurbishment.
The event will be free to all with a range of public programs including artist talks and guided tours designed to inspire creativity and connection.
We are recruiting for Volunteer Exhibition Invigilators to assist the Melbourne Sculpture Biennale and Bayside City Council’s Arts and Culture team to deliver the 3-week exhibition.
Applicants will need to have availability on Thursdays, Fridays, or weekends during the exhibition period: 8 – 25 October 2026. Some after-hours availability may be requested for special events. Shift frequency will vary dependent on availability; however, it is expected that volunteers will be available for a minimum of 3 shifts, 6 preferred, at 3.5 hours per shift across the duration of the exhibition.
Applications close Friday 21 August 2026.
