This week, the big news is the announcement of a suite of new $50,000 fellowships for New South Wales writers, illustrators and playwrights. The initiative is a partnership between Create NSW and Writing NSW, and in very welcome news, four of these high-value fellowships are earmarked for early-career creatives.
There’s also a big opportunity for established visual artists at the top of their game – presenting in the Australia Pavilion at the next Venice Biennale in 2028. We can only hope the drama around this year’s Venice presentation doesn’t discourage artists from putting forward brave, ambitious and exciting proposals.
