Arlpwe is looking for a Studio Coordinator to join their team and work alongside an extraordinary group of Aboriginal artists and Elders.

This is a hands-on role at the centre of a community-owned art practice with real momentum.

Arlpwe artists are exhibiting nationally, winning major prizes, building important collections and getting noticed across the Australian art world. With major exhibitions and art fairs ahead, there’s never been a more exciting time to join them.

Working closely with artists and the wider Arlpwe team, you’ll help keep the studio moving — supporting artists, coordinating creative activity, preparing work for exhibitions and helping take their stories and work to new audiences.

Arlpwe is 100% community-owned and based in Ali Curung, 400k’s north of Alice Springs/Mparntwe representing Kaytetye, Alyawarr, Warlpiri and Warumungu language groups.

Selection Criteria

1. Demonstrated understanding of art materials, colour theory and mixing colour, care andconservation of artworks.

2.  Experience working with and supporting artists, in a non-directional manner to create high quality art and artist management across a multi-faceted artistic and cultural program.

3.  Knowledge of contemporary Aboriginal and broader visual arts industry; prizes, art markets, and exhibition opportunities for emerging and established artist career development.

4. Demonstrated ability to work alongside Aboriginal artworkers including in a mentorship or training capacity.

5. Experience in product photography and artwork cataloguing.

6.  Demonstrated ability to pack artworks for storage or freight in a secure and professional manner.

7.  Demonstrated ability to maintain a clean and orderly studio while ensuring that art materials are well-stocked and accessible to artists.

8.  Demonstrated ability in successful stress management, engaging positive coping and self-care strategies.

9.  Tertiary qualifications in visual arts, community development or arts management or similar relevant qualification and/or extensive demonstrated relevant professional experience.

10. A current driver’s licence and experience in 4WD driving on unsealed roads or ability toundertake 4WD training.
