OPERATIONS AND FACILITIES MANAGER: SHORT TERM CONTRACT
We’re looking for a proactive operations and facilities guru who can manage ANAM’s rehearsals, public performances and venues during a staff absence.
Primary purpose of the role
This role takes temporary responsibility for the operational delivery and production requirements of ANAM’s training program and public concerts/events; managing facilities across ANAM sites; WHS compliance; and maintenance of instruments and equipment.

Details of engagement
Salary classification: Level D (from ANAM’s Workplace Agreement 2016)
Salary: pro rata $94,017 (plus super)
Time fraction: full time (1.0EFT)

Casual operations staff
Supervises: Contractors for production crew/drivers, security, cleaners, instrument specialists/tuners, and trades as required to maintain ANAM facilities

End date: Sun 29 November, 2026
BROAD AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
This position description outlines the primary responsibilities of the role and is not intended to be exhaustive. The Operations and Facilities Manager may be asked to undertake other duties from time to time, and ANAM may update the position description to reflect operational needs.
INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Production and technical operations
- Planning and delivery of ANAM’s production, technical and logistical operations, including rehearsals, performances and events on-site and at external venues.
- Production manage all operational requirements including stage management, venue set-up, lighting, audio-visual, freight, instrument hire and tuning.
- Work together with front of house team to deliver public events safely and professionally.
- Engage and coordinate casual operations, production and logistics staff for ongoing program and project delivery and oversee the maintenance and preventative servicing of technical equipment / instruments.
Venue coordination
- Act as the day-to-day operational contact for ANAM’s rented premises, maintaining strong lessor relationships and working collaboratively with co-tenants, to manage event overlaps and minimise noise impacts.
- Provide production and scheduling information to external venues and maintain effective working relationships with key performance partners.
Facilities
- Act as ANAM’s WHS Officer, chairing the WHS Committee, leading compliance systems, delivering staff inductions, and preparing the Annual Essential Safety Measures Report.
- Coordinate maintenance, cleaning and preventative servicing across all ANAM facilities and equipment, including instruments, security systems, rented premises, lodging and managing landlord maintenance requests as required.
- Ensure all ANAM facilities are safe, functional and well presented, managing security systems and responding to security-related issues as they arise.
Reports
- Supervise the Audio Engineer & Operations Coordinator.
- Recruit, induct and manage casual stage management, operations and production staff.
- Oversee contracted production crew and drivers.
- Manage security and cleaning contractors.
- Oversee preventative maintenance contractors.
- Coordinate trades engaged to maintain ANAM facilities.
Administrative
- Manage the operations and facilities budgets, including capital expenditure, procurement, asset management, stocktakes and invoice processing, and oversee service contracts for cleaning, security, HVAC, fire services and door maintenance.
- Manage the instrument register, loans/hires, piano tunings and moves.
- Prepare stage plans for chamber and orchestral concerts, coordinating requirements with Faculty, conductors and guest artists.
- Prepare casual staff rosters, oversee internal venue bookings for students and staff, and maintain the online room booking system for production and operational activities.
- Prepare concert briefing/run sheets, and post-performance reports.
SELECTION REQUIREMENTS
Mandatory
- Demonstrated experience in a music performance environment, ideally classical.
- Experience in arts administration and concert presentation.
- Exceptional organisational and time management skills.
- A proactive approach and a positive outlook; a demonstrated accuracy of output and excellent attention to detail, with ability to manage multiple timelines.
- High level of skill in communicating effectively with a range of artistic personalities.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- The ability to collaborate, work in a team and establish strong working relationships with multiple external and internal stakeholders.
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Office suite.
Desirable
- Experience working with young people;
- Experience working with ArtsVision or similar scheduling software an advantage;
Other requirements
- Availability to work outside regular ‘office’ hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to travel locally as required.
- First Aid certification.
- Full driver’s licence.

- Current Working with Children Check.
- Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
- Proof of an entitlement to work in Australia.
