Non-Executive Board Director

Tasmanian Youth Orchestras is seeking a Launceston-based Board member to fill a vacancy on its skills-based Board.

About TYO

TYO delivers instrumental and choral music education, development and performance programs to over 200 young Tasmanians aged seven to 25 every year, as well as an annual program of high-quality, inspiring performances to audiences around the state and online.

About the role

The Director will join other Non-Executive Directors in providing effective governance of TYO including development, approval and monitoring of TYO’s Strategy; the annual budget and ongoing financial performance; and legal and risk compliance. The Director will contribute to the development of Board and operational policies, stakeholder engagement and fundraising.

The successful applicant will possess integrity, demonstrate a record of achievement, be agile and committed to the organisation, be a constructive contributor and an effective team player.

  • Skills and experience in the arts and education are essential.
  • Skills and experience in marketing and fundraising preferred but not essential.
  • Governance experience and/or qualifications are desirable but are not essential.
  • First Nations people and new-to-governance professionals are encouraged to apply.
  • A Federal Police Check and a current Working with Vulnerable People registration are essential.
