Organisational Overview
The National Communication Museum (NCM) is a not-for-profit museum that opened in September 2024 exploring the past, present and future technologies that connect us. Positioned between culture and industry, NCM is building a new gloabl creative technology network.
NCM is the custodian of a significant heritage technology collection that spans over 150 years of Australian telecommunications history. A state-of-the-art warehouse facility in Dandenong South houses the central collection of material artefacts and technologies. This collection is the nucleus of the museum, enabling the consideration of how technologies, past and present, can empower us to shape our futures.
Located in one of Melbourne’s emerging creative and technology precincts, NCM has established a strong foundation of exhibitions, education programs, public programs, partnerships and community engagement.
Overview of the Role
The Front of House (FOH) Supervisors are the first point of contact for museum visitors, and are responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere, providing accurate and up to date information on our exhibitions, events and safety protocols. FOH Supervisors are the point of contact for enquiries, ticket sales, and ticket scanning, and are experts in operating and troubleshooting our POS system. They assist with the neat presentation of the museum spaces and ensure our facilities and visitor resources are reset and restocked daily.
Our FOH supervisors understand our policies, health and safety procedures, and adhere to RSA and First Aid guidelines. They confidently support and supervise events including serving alcohol according to RSA procedure, are responsible for administering First Aid and caring for visitors in emergencies.
FOH Supervisors are also passionate tour guides, sharing NCM’s story and vision with visitors. They lead tour groups through our temporary and permanent exhibition spaces and provide valuable insight into the significance of our collections.
