Finance Manager

Seeking a Finance Manager to work closely with the Senior Finance Manager and Associate Director, Finance & CFO

VPS 5.1: $116,413 per annum + 12% superannuationFull Time, Fixed Term for 12 months (parental leave cover)Closing date for application: 5pm on 29 May 2026

The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) is seeking a Finance Manager to work closely with the Senior Finance Manager and Associate Director, Finance & CFO to ensure the efficient operation of the Finance department.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

You will be responsible for managing the completion of financial reconciliations and month-end journals. You will be overseeing weekly cashflow reporting, the completion of bank reconciliations and maintaining the fixed asset register. Other key responsibilities include:

  • Managing external and internal audits, including completion of end of year financial audit and end of year reporting, and ensuring the implementation of any audit recommendations, as required.
  • Overseeing taxation requirements and reporting, including the annual FBT return, monthly Business Activity Statement, monthly payroll tax return.
  • Maintaining and enhancing internal controls, systems, and financial processes and overseeing the administration of D365.
  • Assisting with compliance reporting and other tasks, as required.
  • Managing members of the Finance team as required, by aligning them with organisational values and goals through effective people management and modelling. This includes clearly defining role expectations, monitoring performance, providing timely and constructive feedback and facilitating employee development.
  • Providing high level financial advice and support to the Associate Director, Finance & CFO, Senior Finance Manager, other senior managers and Executive Management Team and preparing reports for Executives and Trustees, as required.

To be successful, you will have relevant tertiary qualifications and experience, and full membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, CPA Australia, or equivalent. Minimum 5 years of relevant post qualification experience in financial accounting is required.

You can confidently convey complex information in a clear and easy to comprehend way, clearly understand the target audience and objectives of the communication and use audience feedback to refine communication and ensure communications are understood. You observe fine details, identify gaps in information, with a focus on ensuring accuracy and highlight practical considerations of plans and activities.

You have knowledge of relevant public service and statutory regulations and legislation.

Previous experience with D365 would be desired.
