About ANCA

The Australian National Choral Association (ANCA) is Australia’s peak body for choral music. Established more than 30 years ago, ANCA promotes, supports and facilitates choral and vocal ensemble music through education, research, advocacy, outreach, participation and professional support. The organisation is governed by a National Executive and National Council and supported by volunteer Chapters throughout Australia.

About the Role

ANCA is seeking an experienced arts administrator who can advocate for the Australian National Choral Association (ANCA), provide support to our large member base, and build the profile of choral music-making as a vital tool for wellbeing and social cohesion.

The Executive Officer is the organisation’s principal operational and administrative leader, responsible for managing day-to-day activities and acting as the primary liaison with members, government agencies, funding bodies, partner organisations and key stakeholders. The role is responsible for membership services, advocacy, communications, fundraising, stakeholder engagement and organisational administration.

Priorities and scope within the initial time availability will be negotiated with the successful candidate.

Key Responsibilities

Work with the Executive and National Council to:

  • Advocate for ANCA and the broader choral sector, building strong relationships with stakeholders, funders, community leaders, government, international partners and affiliates.
  • Secure grant and sponsorship funding and establish a strong financial foundation to support the EO role and the organisation as a whole.
  • Represent ANCA at industry events, forums and conferences, while creating opportunities for the National Councillors to strengthen ANCA’s voice within the sector.
  • Support the delivery of ANCA’s major national events, including biennial conferences and clinician tour, attending in a working capacity.
  • Manage and enhance ANCA’s digital presence, including social media, newsletters, magazine and online campaigns.
  • Promote and administer Chapter events in collaboration with state Chapters.
  • Work with the National Council to oversee budgeting, financial management and reporting, ensuring transparency, accountability, and delivery of strategic initiatives and KPIs.
  • Provide timely, professional administrative support to members and the leadership team.

Job Requirements

  • Part-time position, 0.6 FTE with the potential to grow the role.
  • Remuneration: $110,000 per annum, pro rata, plus superannuation.
  • Ability to work remotely and collaborate with stakeholders across Australia.
  • Capacity to attend national events, conferences and meetings as required.
  • Eligibility to work in Australia.
  • Experience in the not-for-profit, arts or membership-based sector will be highly regarded.

Selection Criteria

As our Executive Officer, you will drive our organisation’s growth, sustainability, profile and influence. Working in collaboration with the Executive and National Council, you will shape the future of our programmes, partnerships and community, combining strategic advocacy with strong financial leadership to expand ANCA’s profile and community impact.

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

  • Proven experience in arts administration, organisational leadership and advocacy, with a track record of delivering results.
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration and relationship-building skills, with confidence in public speaking and stakeholder engagement.
  • Direct experience with, and passion for, choral music-making, combined with a deep understanding of the Australian choral ecosystem.
