We’ve spotted plenty of new opportunities to share with you this week. The $200,000 Sidney Myer Creative Fellowships are now open for mid-career creatives, though you’ll need to meet some strict criteria and also find someone to nominate you. Newcastle Art Gallery is also reviving the Kilgour Art Prize, and in the Northern Rivers of New South Wales, NORPA is commissioning fresh performance-based works for its new Live Edge event at The Joinery.
It’s also exciting to see the announcement of a new professional development initiative for Western Sydney artists – and the first event is a study trip to the Venice Biennale. Organised by the producing and commissioning platform UTP alongside the Parramatta artist-run space Pari, it’s further proof of the exciting networks and creative communities in Western Sydney, and the DIY efforts going into building opportunities for the region’s artists.
