About the opportunity
The Collections Manager, Documentation plays a key role within the Chau Chak Wing Museum, supporting the management and preservation of a diverse and historically significant collection. Working within the Collections Management team, this role leads the administration of the EMu collections system and drives best practice in documentation and data standards. The position contributes directly to enhancing research, teaching, and public engagement outcomes across the University.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- work closely with Collections Management and museum staff to support collections documentation and system use
- manage and administer the EMu collections management system, including upgrades, maintenance and user support
- develop and implement museum documentation procedures aligned with national standards
- oversee data integrity, large-scale data capture and ongoing improvements to collections records
- design and deliver training for staff, interns and volunteers on documentation best practice
- lead and contribute to collections documentation projects, including support for exhibitions, loans and acquisitions
About you
- demonstrated experience managing museum collections databases (EMu or similar)
- experience developing and implementing documentation standards and procedures in a museum or cultural institution
- strong knowledge of collections management practices, including cataloguing, registration and digitisation
- experience training and supporting users in systems and documentation processes
- ability to manage complex datasets and documentation projects within a collections environment
- relevant tertiary qualification in museum studies, cultural heritage, or a related discipline.
