Inge King made a significant impact on Australian public sculpture. The Berlin-born sculptor died this week in her adopted home of Melbourne, aged 100.
King’s galleriest Stuart Purves said in a formal statement: ‘A giant in the history of Australian art has died today. I had a privileged and close relationship with this remarkable artist. Her intelligence and no nonsense attitude, accompanied with her kind heart gave me experiences and knowledge that I would never have had without the generosity of her wisdom.
