Peta Hanrahan is Dog Theatre Company’s artistic director. She started working in the theatre industry at the age of 19. She has been a puppeteer with Polyglot, a stilt walker with STYX, an actor, a lighting designer, a production manager, a stage manager, and the list goes on. She’s been working as a theatre practicioner for nearly 30 years. Hanrahan’s directorial and dramaturgical credits include Sammy and the sword, Angus Cerini’s Mickey and the Mistress, Sandra Shotlander’s Framework, Patrick Van Der Werf’s Moon Babies, Shakespeare’s Dead Pan and others, many others. She has seconded as director-in-observation to Gale Edwards for Eureka at Melbourne’s Her Majesties Theatre and was assistant director to Julian Meyrick for Melbourne Theatre Company in 2005. Hanrahan is the recipient of La Mama’s 2006 L.S.G. award for contribution to theatre and the 2007 Drama Victoria Award for “Best performance for young people” for SHRIMP, which she produced, dramaturged and directed. Peta has also sat on several arts panels including Wal Cherry Best Script and the Artistic Advisory Committee for Melbourne’s Workers Theatre.
