Piccinini’s Flinders Street installation extended to January 2022

ArtsHub speaks with Piccinini on the feeling of loss with closures and the importance of public engagement as her RISING installation is extended.

The snap cancellation of RISING has been one of the great disappointments this year. Originally slated to take place in August 2020, the festival was launched 26 May, only to be shutdown due to a new COVID outbreak in Melbourne.

One of the big ticket headliners was Patricia Piccinini’s immersive takeover of Flinders Street Station Ballroom, which had received a significant from the RISE federal pandemic relief fund to assist its realisation.
