Young conductor gives MSO a night to remember

Those attending the last of MSO's Sidney Myer Free Concerts series witnessed a lifetime changing moment for a young conductor and his family.

When the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra wrapped up their summer series of Sidney Myer Free Concerts at the King Domain Gardens late last month the evening was also a life changing moment for 19-year-old Matthew from Starlight’s Children Foundation, his family and friends.

Matthew lives with cerebral palsy and cortical impairment and is part of Starlight’s Wishgranting program that makes once in a lifetime wishes of seriously ill children and young people across Australia come true. His ultimate wish was to conduct the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
