Winning design for NGV Contemporary revealed

Australian architects Angelo Candalepas and Associates have designed the centrepiece of the $1.7 billion renewal of Southbank arts precinct.

Described as architecturally ‘uplifting and generous’, the design for what will become Australia’s largest art gallery – NGV Contemporary – was revealed on Tuesday.

The centrepiece of the $1.7 billion renewal of Melbourne’s Southbank arts precinct, NGV Contemporary has been designed by Australian architectural firm Angelo Candalepas and Associates.

Richard Watts is ArtsHub's National Performing Arts Editor; he also presents the weekly program SmartArts on Three Triple R FM, and serves as the Chair of La Mama Theatre's volunteer Committee of Management.
