Winner of the 2014 Deadly Art Award announced

Victoria’s richest Indigenous art prize goes to surf coast artist for an installation inspired by beachcombing.

Jenny Crompton has taken out the $30,000 Deadly Art Award at the 2014 Victorian Indigenous Art Awards (VIAA) this weekend.  

Presented at the Art Gallery of Ballarat, and presided over by Minister for the Arts, Heidi Victoria, the government-sponsored award extends to more than $50,000 in total prize money and has become recognised as a significant recognition of indigenous practice in Australia’s south-east.
