Victorian State Schools Spectacular 2012

Three hours of non-stop entertainment by 3,000 performers from government schools across Victoria in two shows on just the one day in September.

It’s All about Love. And organising. An 80-piece orchestra, 1500-voice choir,
1400 mass dancers, 40 principal dancers, 40 ensemble dancers, 23 lead vocalists, 18 backing vocalists and, get this, 30 circus performers make for a very busy spectacle that draws on 40 tunes from pop, rock, theatre and classical. Adele, Jessie J, Jennifer Lopez, Cole Porter, LMFAO, Phillip Glass and The Beatles are some of the credits in a bill to appeal to the audience of 10,000.

Behind the scenes are creative director Neill Gladwin, music director Chong Lim and dance director Kelley Abbey. Kelley has choreographed stage shows such as The Boy from Oz Arena Spectacular, Fame and Footloose the Musical. She has also worked in film and television on So You Think You Can Dance in Australia and the US and the Oscar-winning film Happy Feet.
