There may exist a perception among the general public that conferences are just a talkfest. The Museums Australia National Conference is aiming to defuse a few of these misconceptions, with a social program featuring a range of events to help conference attendees unwind.

There is the Regional and Remote Welcome Function on 16 May at the Canberra Museum and Gallery Foyer, which will celebrate the beginning of the Regional, Remote and Community Museum Day conference.
