Remembering gallerist Tim Klingender

The visual arts sector mourns the tragic death of gallerist Tim Klingender.

Last week (20 July), news broke that two men had become victims of a tragic boat accident off Sydney’s Watson Bay. One of those men was the internationally respected art dealer Tim Klingender, who was just 59.

Klingender had only recently returned from one of his many trips to New York, where he championed the collecting of Aboriginal art, having developed Sotheby’s stand-alone sales in 2019 – considered a coup internationally within the market.
