Real men vote – and win… the Archibald Packing Room Prize

Some argue the gallery’s storemen are the best critics. Today they announced their pick for the Archibald amid the building hype.

While the announcement of the Archibald, Wynne and Sulman Prizes is one of those spectacular punctuations on the art world calendar – scheduled for next Friday, 18 July – hotly snapping the heals of the Trustee’s esteemed choice is the Packing Room Prize, cast by those who unpack and hang the many entries.

Tim Storrier took the 2014 Packing Room Prize for his painting of ‘Sir Les’, one of two paintings of Barry Humphries that made the final cut this year.
