Melbourne-based software designers have released a new app that allows art buyers to visualize artworks in their home before making a purchase. The startup is called Walnut and is aimed at making art sales and purchases easier and more streamlined.

Walnut co-founder Vedran Arnautovic says that it will benefit art buyers, as well as artists and galleries, by removing one of the barriers to making sales – what the piece will look like once it’s taken home. Available for owners of iPads and iPhones, Walnut allows users to take pictures of rooms suitable for artwork, with the ‘Space’ tool adding ‘true-to-life’ perspective. Users can select their own images of artwork or download them from participating galleries and Walnut will produce a visual of the artwork/art space combination.
