Melbourne’s theatre community is in mourning following the death of academic, author, critic, historian, and lighting designer Geoffrey Milne, who passed away on Thursday 11 April after losing his battle with cancer.

A former lecturer at Rusden and a long-time lecturer at La Trobe University, Milne was also a prolific writer on Australian theatre history, a former President of the Australasian Association for Theatre, Drama and Performance Studies, a long-standing theatre critic, notably for ABC radio, and a generous and passionate teacher.
