The Gallipoli Art Prize has been awarded to painter Idris Murphy, grandson of Gallipoli veteran Charles Idris Pike.

The winning painting entitled ‘Gallipoli Evening 2013’  depicts a lone tree sitting in front of a golden barren landscape. Letters from Murphy’s grandfather to his future-wife Violet inspired Murphy’s work, which was also influenced by time time travelling through Gallipoli last year.
