City backs major Sydney festivals

The City of Sydney has agreed to endorse $1.3 million of new sponsorship agreements into four major Sydney festivals, which combined attract nearly one million people to the city, boosting the local economy by more than $34 million.

The Sydney Writers Festival will receive $660,000 to cover the start-up costs of a new program focused on increasing the contribution of donations and other philanthropic gifts and bequests to the event, over the next two years.
