It is not every day that Bonhams’ top art experts head to Australia to conduct free valuations. The journey is in a bid to unearth some treasures locally – paintings and prints which may be hiding in Australia but that are more suitable to sell in Europe, ideally British and European works or artists with British links to Australia – to feed a growing demand at Bonhams’ London sales.
