Art Gallery of NSW to become ‘Sydney Modern’

The Art Gallery of New South Wales aims to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the institution’s 1871 founding in spectacular fashion. Today AGNSW unveiled a strategic vision and masterplan to transform the iconic institution into an art museum for the 21st century, with a major expansion and renewed focus on serving a global audience proposed.

With the Gallery committed to a new vision, a new name has been proposed to embody the ambition of the Gallery’s Board of Trustees and its new director, Dr Michael Brand – Sydney Modern.
