Opera Australia’s 2015 season is a judicious mix of classics and newer works, including The Rabbits, a brand new opera written by Kate Miller-Heidke. An allegorical fable about colonisation, told from the viewpoint of the colonised, The Rabbits is based on the book by author John Marsden (Tomorrow, When the War Began) and illustrator Shaun Tan (The Arrival) and is a collaboration between Opera Australia and West Australia’s Barking Gecko Theatre Company.
