Must-see museum blockbusters in 2024

As Australians continue their love affair with all things ancient Egyptian, some of our museums are also embracing VR to take us on journeys through time, and deep into the natural world this year.

While the Australian Museum in Sydney continues to break records with its blockbuster Ramses show ­– an exhibition that continues into 2024 and has helped it achieve a second year of over one million visitors in 2023 – there is more than sphinxes and sarcophagi on show at our major museums in 2024.

Some museums will continue to leverage our collective Pharaoh-fever in 2024, while others have their sights set on 180-million-year-old rainforests and the depths of the deep blue sea.
