Must-see museum blockbusters in 2024

As Australians continue their love affair with all things ancient Egyptian, some of our museums are also embracing VR to take us on journeys through time, and deep into the natural world this year.

While the Australian Museum in Sydney continues to break records with its blockbuster Ramses show – an exhibition that continues into 2024 and has helped it achieve a second year of over one million visitors in 2023 – there is more than sphinxes and sarcophagi on show at our major museums in 2024.

Also worth investigating are the Museum’s Tomb Talks (on various Tuesday nights January to May), and the lunchtime Egypt – in Conversation talks, hosted by journalists, which take place on the second Wednesday of the month until 8 May. Read our review.
