Chamber music alliance commits to strengthening artform

Building opportunities for its member ensembles, Chamber Music Adelaide also grows audiences by presenting performances in unusual locations.

Given Adelaide’s reputation as a festival city, the creation of Festivals Adelaide – a coordinating body for the city’s 11 major festivals – makes absolute sense. But why an alliance of chamber music ensembles?

Because, as it turns out, Adelaide has a plethora of chamber music ensembles, and a decade ago they were all in direct competition with one another – which is hardly conducive to growing audiences or cultivating opportunities for the artform.
