How does a fair define itself in this ever-increasing market of events? On the eve of Sydney Contemporary 13 (SC13), CEO and Group Fairs Director of Art Fairs Australia, Barry Keldoulis said, ‘The idea is to place Sydney in the middle of the Pacific Rim, well located as a bridge between the Americas and Asia.’

It is a smart move, with regional fairs in Singapore and Hong Kong firmly established as leaders within the Asian fair market. With approximately 40 art fairs in the Asia Pacific Region alone, the need for definition is crucial for the success of a new event to muscle its way in. Getting that mix right is key.
