AGNSW purchases 49 works

With an eye on the future, the AGNSW Trustee-endorsed acquisitions were a larger-than-usual injection of signature works, bolstering both its Australian and International collections. So where was that dollar spent?

The June acquisition meeting is always a bumper one for art museums, as the approaching end-of-financial year precipitates gifts; but this round brought some surprising gems into the collection of the Art Gallery of New South Wales (AGNSW).

Director of Collections Suhanya Raffel said: ‘One of the core values of any international art museum is to have a great collection of works and I am very pleased to announce that this Gallery recently acquired some major international works from artists including Doug Aitken and Kay Rosen to Matisse.’
