Be discreet

Discretion is a key trait to adopt when you’re looking to move on from one job to the next.

Leaving your current job is often a tough process, but it is something that most of us will continue to do many times over the course of our careers. However, this doesn’t mean that you should begin informing everyone in the vicinity of your job search the minute you decide you’re ready to move on. Doing so probably won’t leave a good impression on your current boss, and after all, they’re the ones who will be giving you that much-needed reference that could score you your next job.

The key is to be discreet, not only when you’re in the office or around your co-workers but also on social media where your comments may be read by the people you work with. Knowing you’re ready to move on is likely to distract others from the work you’re currently producing and you really don’t want your boss finding out about your current job search through the mouth of somebody else.
