Teacher of Contemporary Painting Practice

Melbourne Art Class seeks expressions of interest from professional painting practitioners to join our teaching team.

We are seeking painting practitoners and experienced educators who are passionate about teaching studio-based programs.

Teacher of Contemporary Painting Practice

Location: Armadale, Melbourne

Approximately 2 – 8 hrs per week part time – sessional.

Melbourne Art Class (MAC) offers inclusive and accessible high-quality creative courses and workshops. Our underlying passion for a range of art, historical to contemporary, underlies a commitment to creating an environment where individual students have the encouragement, support and technical ‘know how’ to achieve their creative goals.

Classes are delivered in-person from our Armadale studio in Melbourne. We provide a supportive, inclusive, professional teaching environment and a warm creative community.

The successful candidate will be responsible for one or two weekly sessions at our Armadale location.

 

Essential Selection Criteria:

  • A specialist maintaining a professional painting practice with an exhibiting history.

  • A Fine Art degree or equivalent qualification.

  • Experienced art educator.
  • Broad knowledge of art history and contemporary art practices.

  • Knowledge of contemporary painting and industry trends.

  • Sound understanding of principles and techniques of figurative drawing and painting.

  • Figurative painting skills and practice preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • WWCC

  • Saturday morning availability preferred

 

Desired Skills:

  • Experience teaching in a community or studio setting.

  • Ability to effectively manage classroom dynamics and facilitate group discussions.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of diverse learners.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver engaging and dynamic classes.

  • Create lesson plans that cater to varying skill levels and learning styles.

  • Provide constructive feedback and guidance to students to help them improve their art practice.

  • Foster a supportive and encouraging learning environment that promotes creativity and self-expression.

  • Manage classroom activities and ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment for all participants.

  • Maintain student records and communication with MAC administration.

  • Follow studio safety protocols and MAC policies.
