Senior Producer

SP&Co are seeking a full-time Senior Producer to join our team as we move into an exciting new phase for the company over the next several years.

Shaun Parker & Company (SP&Co) is one of Australia’s most far-reaching dance companies, having toured extensively internationally to 25 counties across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and North America, and nationally to 68 Australian cities and towns. Based in Sydney/Gadigal, the Company has delivered a range of award-winning dance theatre productions, outdoor festival works and transformative dance education programs. SP&Co is renowned for its powerful, humanist, dance theatre productions, which have touched audiences across the globe, transcending borders and demographics.

SP&Co are seeking a full-time Senior Producer to join our team as we move into an exciting new phase for the company over the next several years.

Position Overview:  Full Time

The Senior Producer supports the Company’s artistic vision with strong broad-based producing skills to generate and deliver the Company’s repertoire of world-class work at a national and international level. The Company currently have four new works in development and are actively planning international and national tours of extant and new works for 2027, 2028 and 2029. Directly reporting to our Artistic Director, the Senior Producer is supported by a Project Co-ordinator, Bookkeeper, Graphic Designer and Production Manager (when in creation/touring mode), all of which report directly to the Senior Producer.

Features of the role

• Contribute to the creation and touring of innovative dance theatre works to the national and international stage.
• Work with a creative arts organisation with established infrastructure and support including already-secured medium term funding from Create NSW, a vibrant secured philanthropic base, and a diverse, experienced and supportive Board committed to agility, pace, practicality and innovation.
• Flexible working arrangement at our bespoke office at the Chippen Street Theatre in Chippendale (short walk from Redfern and Central stations) and remote/work from home arrangements can be negotiated as needed.
• Collaborate with national and international networks, with international trips for touring productions, attendance at arts markets, or like forums.
• Working closely to support and deliver the artistic vision of Artistic Director Shaun Parker and guest choreographers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Producing:

• Identify, develop, negotiate and produce The Company’s artistic works and tours (national and international), as directed by Artistic Director.
• Manage contract preparation, negotiation and execution associated with delivering the various projects.
• Develop and implement the Company’s national and international market development strategy in consultation with the Artistic Director.
• Manage project budgets for artistic works and tours.
• Produce marketing & PR strategies and delivery, in consultation with Artistic Director.
• Maintain outstanding communication with Artistic Director and the SP&Co team.
• Manage the direct reports including Project Co-Ordinator, Bookkeeper, Graphic Designer and Production Manager/Stage Manager.

Stakeholder and Public Relations:

• Build and maintain relationships with presenters, stakeholders, partners, and collaborators.
• Build, cultivate and maintain relationships with national and international venues, agencies and festivals.
• Maintain and build advantageous relationships with other organisations to enable partnerships that help meet and/or enhance the Company’s objectives.
• Represent the Company at domestic and international Arts Markets, industry events and presentations as required.
• Manage the Behind The Scenes showings and fundraising events associated with our works, to ensure philanthropic and fundraising progression.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

The Senior Producer should possess:

• Extensive experience in producing and touring performing arts productions, nationally and internationally, and a network of relevant contacts both in Australia and overseas.
• Expertise in project budgeting and financial management.
• Expertise in negotiating contracts with artists, festivals and venue management.
• Strong understanding of the technical aspects of theatrical productions.
• Experience in developing marketing and publicity strategies and in briefing consultants.
• Proven ability to identify and negotiate project funding opportunities in both government and private sectors, including strong project grant application writing skills.
• Experience working collaboratively, in a fast paced, agile and small team environment.
• A high level of autonomy, personal integrity and demonstrated good judgement alongside a positive, vibrant producing style. Solutions-based management style.

Date of commencement:  Oct/Nov 2026 Flexible – In consultation with successful applicant.

Salary range: On Application, and tailored to experience, expertise and track record.
