The Flying Fruit Fly Circus – Australia’s national youth circus – is seeking a dynamic and creative Marketing & Communications Officer to help share the story of one of the country’s most unique performing arts organisations.
This is a new role for someone who loves storytelling, thrives in a fast-moving environment, and is ready to capture and communicate the incredible things that happen every day in our training centre, on tour, and on stage.
About Us
The Flying Fruit Fly Circus is a national centre of excellence for circus training and performance, delivering a full-time academic and circus education program for young people aged 8–18 in Albury-Wodonga. We also create and tour contemporary circus shows for family audiences across Australia and internationally.
We’re also launching Circus Centre Melbourne, expanding our footprint across two sites and strengthening pathways for young circus artists into professional careers.
About the Role
This newly created role is a rare opportunity to join the Fruit Flies as we grow our national impact. Based in Albury, you’ll work closely with the Executive Producer/Deputy CEO and collaborate with designers, photographers, and publicists to roll out marketing and communications campaigns across the company.
From student auditions to international tours – and everything in between – you’ll help bring the voice and energy of FFFC to audiences around Australia.
What You’ll Do
- Deliver marketing campaigns for shows, auditions, tours, and community events
- Create and publish engaging content across social media, web, and email
- Capture or coordinate photography and video content from training and performances
- Draft media releases, support PR campaigns, and manage media engagement
- Champion the FFFC brand and support audience development initiatives
- Help shape the public face of Circus Centre Melbourne
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Great writing, communication, and visual storytelling skills
- Experience in marketing, communications, or content creation
- Confident working with social media, websites (WordPress), and eDM tools (Mailchimp)
- A self-starter with strong time management and creative flair
- An interest in circus, physical theatre, or youth arts
Desirable:
- Experience working in the arts or not-for-profit sector
- Basic graphic design, photography, or video editing skills
- Familiarity with audience development, community engagement, or fundraising
