HOTA, Home of the Arts Precinct
This role will be based at HOTA, Home of the Arts. HOTA is an iconic Gold Coast destination where art, entertainment, culture and lifestyle meet. A place that locals love and visitors must-see. HOTA offers a diverse suite of venues and facilities, including a gallery, outdoor stage, indoor theatres and cinemas, function and events rooms, as well as a range of food and beverage venues including the HOTA Café, the rooftop Exhibitionist Bar and three hat Palette Restaurant.
At the heart of HOTA’s identity is a rich and diverse program: live music, theatre, dance, comedy, film, visual art exhibitions, children’s shows, community workshops, and festivals – all taking place across the array of venues.
About the Role
The Family and Education Producer is responsible for coordinating, delivering, and promoting HOTA’s year-round Education Program, with a focus on engaging schools and educators. This role collaborates closely with the Creative Programming team to produce the Family Program, including curated seasonal offerings and major festival activations such as Kids Take Over and BLEACH Festival, ensuring all programs are accessible, engaging, and aligned with audience development objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:

Engage with the local primary and secondary education sectors to gain a comprehensive understanding of their needs in relation to curriculum-responsive theatre and artistic works.

Continue to collaborate with the Teachers Reference Committee.

Work with the Director, Creative Programming, and Senior Producer to deliver the Education Program, including:

Two performance works for secondary education across the year; and
-
Two performance works for primary schools during the Kids Take Over Festival.

Produce and deliver the Family Program of works throughout the year.

Program and develop a season of workshops for both school and public engagement.

Create, collate, and manage education collateral.

Coordinate and manage teacher information nights and the launch of the HOTA Education Program on the website.

Supervise teacher professional development sessions and student workshops.

Execute and coordinate a suite of programs and initiatives as directed, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.

Ensure equitable access and quality outcomes for all programs through ongoing evaluation.

Build, monitor, and update program and event details in event management systems, including ticketing builds, marketing briefs, and performance documentation to support effective stakeholder communication.

Prepare, manage, and adjust program budgets, ensuring financial compliance and effective resource allocation.

Negotiate and issue contracts for artists and program personnel, ensuring appropriate documentation and governance standards.

Contribute to departmental reporting by providing program data, updates, and insights.

Perform other duties within the scope of the role, as reasonably requested.
Marketing – Education Program:

Develop and manage a schools database, including primary, secondary, drama, and dance schools.

Assist the Marketing Department in creating materials to promote the Education and Schools Programs.

Prepare education program content for inclusion in HOTA marketing channels.

Maintain regular contact with the education reference network.
What We’re Looking For
Experience:
-
Previous experience in education (e.g. teacher, arts coordinator) and/or a Bachelor of Education, Performance, or Arts Management.

Experience producing or contributing to a festival.
-
Knowledge of the NSW and Queensland curricula (Prep to Year 12).

Strong administration and computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.

Demonstrated experience delivering high-quality customer service in a fast-paced environment (minimum 3 years).

Proactive and self-motivated, with excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise and work under pressure.

Well-developed interpersonal skills, with a positive, resilient, and solution-focused approach.

Excellent organisational and planning skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and work within budgets.

Knowledge of health and safety regulations and experience implementing and monitoring safe work practices.

Marketing experience is desirable.
