We have an exciting opportunity for an Executive Assistant to support the Executive Director and Artistic Director of Bell Shakespeare, Australia’s national theatre company specialising in the works of Shakespeare.
This position requires a proactive and motivated individual who will be responsible for the smooth running of the office of the Executives, including but not limited to diary management, internal and external communication, and the administration of travel and expenses.
This position also supports the broader company with travel arrangements, supports Bell Shakespeare Board administration as required, and ensures the smooth running of team meetings.

This role will suit someone who has strong written and verbal communication skills, is proactive and proficient in planning and organisation, and has a proven record of punctuality, reliability and efficiency.
The person in this role represents the office of the ED and AD, and it is essential that this person builds strong, constructive working relationships across the company, including with the Board, and upholds Bell Shakespeare’s core values in all their interactions.
As part of the Bell Shakespeare team, you will:
- Receive complimentary tickets to all Bell Shakespeare productions

- Be based in a spectacular location at Pier 2/3 in the Walsh Bay Arts Precinct
- Have the opportunity to work with major performing arts venues, including Sydney Opera House, Arts Centre Melbourne and Canberra Theatre Centre
To be considered as a successful applicant:
Candidates for this role do NOT require:
- Experience in the arts industry
- A tertiary qualification
- An Australian driver’s license
- Australian citizenship or permanent residency
Candidates for this role DO require:
Essential Criteria
- Previous experience working with senior executives
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Keen attention to detail
- Excellent time-management and planning skills
- Ability to think strategically and creatively, and carry out responsibilities independently
- Advanced diary and travel-management skills
- Advanced skills in Word and Outlook, and Intermediate skills in Excel and SharePoint
- Experience with Teams and Zoom
- High-level problem-solving skills, demonstrating initiative and drive
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to think ahead and anticipate requirements
- An adaptable and calm approach
- Ability to work autonomously
- Discreet and diplomatic
- A valid visa with permission to work in Australia for a minimum of 2 years
Desirable Criteria
- Experience working in the Arts
- Knowledge of Tessitura database
