Chief Executive

Opportunity to lead Australia’s largest multi-artform cultural institution dedicated to children and young people

  • Australia’s largest multi-artform cultural institution dedicated to children and young people
  • We believe in the power of children and young people as creators, innovators and world shapers
  • Strengthening Carclew’s position as a leader in the youth arts sector and the creative economy

Located on the parklands fringe in North Adelaide, Carclew House is a heritage listed property featuring extensive gardens which the government of South Australia gifted in 1971 as a promise that all children and young people have access to art, culture and creativity.

Carclew has a proud history over 55 years of championing creativity and artistic opportunity for many generations of children and young people across South Australia. We believe in the power of children and young people as creators, innovators, and world shapers. Through participation in the arts, we inspire and nurture creativity and agency in children and encourage boldness and innovation as they grow.

Carclew exists to elevate the youth arts sector, amplify children’s voices and provide opportunities for safe creative expression, access to audience experiences and career development pathways.

As we look to the future, we are committed to build on this foundation, strengthen our position as a leader in the youth arts sector and creative economy, and expand the reach and impact of our work.

We are seeking a leader who brings fresh thinking, imagination and the ability to turn opportunity into meaningful outcomes. Central to this role will be the ability to build strong, enduring relationships across South Australia’s arts and creative community, government, industry and philanthropic sectors.

Our next Chief Executive will be someone who connects people, ideas and opportunities, builds trust and meaningful partnerships, and strengthens Carclew’s contribution and influence within the broader arts ecosystem.

We are looking for a future-focused, values-led leader who can bring together diverse perspectives and create the conditions for creativity, collaboration and innovation to flourish.

Strong organisational leadership and sound governance are important foundations for this role. Equally important is the ability to inspire others, build a positive and inclusive culture, and translate an ambitious vision into sustainable outcomes for children, young people and the broader youth arts sector.

This is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to South Australia’s cultural and creative future, working alongside a committed Board, talented team and a diverse community of artists, partners and supporters.

Please contact the consultant assisting the Board to obtain the link to the Information for Candidates site that has full details of the role and the application requirements:
