  • Minimum Salary – $82,379 per annum plus superannuation.

ABOUT BUNDANON

Bundanon is an art museum embedded in a 1,000-hectare landscape in the Shoalhaven region of NSW. The organisation’s mission is to operate the Bundanon properties as a centre for creative arts and education, to support the development of arts practice across all disciplines, and to enable public access to the arts and to the landscape. ABOUT THE ROLE

This role reports to the Head of Curatorial and Learning, and is responsible for the coordination and delivery of Bundanon’s renowned Artist in Residence program. From managing the program’s operations and logistics to ensuring resident artists receive exceptional support, the position plays a key role in creating a well-organised, welcoming, and enriching experience. It oversees all aspects of the program from start to finish, ensuring its successful execution and alignment with Bundanon’s commitment to artistic excellence.

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

 

Artist in Residence Program Coordination

 

  • Oversee the daily operations of the Artists in Residence (AIR) program, including artist communications, scheduling, and ensuring facilities are well-maintained and equipped.
  • Provide site inductions to incoming artists and ensure their studio, cultural, and access requirements are met through collaboration with relevant staff.
  • Maintain comprehensive records for the AIR program, including an up-to-date residency manual, digital archives, and CRM data for stakeholders.
  • Facilitate the evaluation of the Artists in Residence program by administering surveys and compiling data-driven reports.
  • Manage program budgets, process invoices, and ensure accurate and timely payments to artists, contractors, and suppliers.

AIRs Selection & Outreach

 

  • Manage the scheduling of residencies, ensuring opportunities are equitably distributed across diverse artistic disciplines, geographic regions, and identity markers.
  • Administer residency contracts, ensuring clarity, timely completion, and compliance with terms.
  • Develop and implement strategic outreach initiatives to attract a diverse range of applicants, leveraging various promotional channels and hosting informational events.
  • Lead the application process by coordinating with external contractors to manage the online application system and establishing selection criteria that align with Bundanon’s mission, ensuring a transparent and efficient process.
  • Build and maintain a diverse pool of peer assessors, ensuring broad representation across artistic disciplines, career stages, geographic locations, and diverse identity markers.
  • Support peer assessor panels by providing clear guidelines and administrative assistance to facilitate a fair and inclusive evaluation process.
  • Act as the primary contact for residency-related inquiries, offering clear and accessible information to artists, organisations, and researchers.

 

Partnerships & Program Collaboration

 

  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with program partners and collaborators, coordinating engagements, facilitating feedback, and identifying joint opportunities.
  • Draft and finalise MOUs with partners, clearly defining roles and ensuring alignment with Bundanon’s objectives.
  • Oversee partnership-related financial processes, including invoicing, donations, and reporting, in collaboration with relevant teams.
  • Support residencies for commissioned artists and organisations as part of strategic partnerships, ensuring their goals align with Bundanon’s broader programming objectives
  • Provide recommendations on AIR’s program to support planning and alignment with residency objectives.

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR…

 

Essential

  • Tertiary qualifications in Arts, Arts Administration, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with and supporting artists.
  • Experience with using O365 (especially Excel and SharePoint), and systems such as Xero, CRM or event management software, with the ability to learn new programs
  • Experience working with a diverse team of staff and volunteers and a proven ability to positively contribute within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Strong administrative and communication skills, including preparing contracts, guidelines and artist information packs
  • Experience working respectfully with First Nations artists and communities.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of diversity, equity and inclusion principles
  • Knowledge of moral and contractual rights for artists.
