The news this week of the resignation of Michael Snelling, Director of the National Art School (NAS) Sydney has landed hard on the art education sector.

It comes at a critical juncture for the school, which has been caught up in conversations over merger talks between the Sydney College of the Arts and the UNSW Art and Design schools, and its own battle to maintain its independence and location.
