The merits of building a career outside the spotlight

Much attention is focused on those who have built a name for themselves in the arts, but careers in this sector are wonderfully varied. Here's why you don't have to be in the spotlight to be a success.

There is a great misconception in both the arts and other industries that being in the spotlight, building a name, or being the face of an organisation or project is what it takes to be a success.

For some, this can throw career trajectories off course by chasing the limelight instead of true passions, or lead to feelings of inadequacy if the pedestal is not quite reached.
