Perth Festival’s dynamic new vision for visual arts

Transformation and conversation unites Perth Festival's visual arts program, as curator Gemma Weston takes the reins to further strengthen the role of the visual arts in festival programming.

Gemma Weston describes Perth Festival’s Visual Arts Program for 2020 as being united by two ideas: transformation and conversation.

The first-time Festival Associate of Perth Festival has been charged with delivering a program in sync with Artistic Director Iain Grandage’s overall rebrand for Perth Festival – one that has removed the word “international” and draws on the Noongar word Karla – meaning fire, but also signifying a place where people can gather – a place of belonging.
