The Third Space Commission is a 6-month exhibition opportunity for artists with an existing large scale installation-ready artwork suitable for outdoor display in a privately owned office building at 40 Miller Street, North Sydney.
Commissioned by Barings and delivered by Brand X, this program supports the temporary installation and exhibition of existing works across public art, sculpture, installation, spatial practice, design and surface art.
It is not a development opportunity — proposals must be for artworks that already exist or require minor adaptation.
We are looking for artworks that:
- Respond to a semi-public, everyday environment
- Inspire and coexist with daily office activity
- Invite curiosity, reflection, or pause
- Change how a space is experienced over time
- Are durable and suitable for outdoor conditions
The successful artist will be selected via a 2-stage application process.
Artists must be able to deliver the project with a budget of $12,200 +GST including artist fee, materials and modifications, freight, installation, lighting, maintenance, de-installation and insurances not covered.

- Shortlisting and second round selection: Mid June
- Final notifications: Late June
