Police brief the gathered crowd of the “incident” that had just occurred outside

Two gunmen have been shot by police overnight, after pre-empting a “situation” on the occasion of an art exhibition sponsored by the American Freedom Defence Initiative (AFDI) in Texas.

The exhibition at the Curtis Culwell Centre in Garland, north of Dallas, displayed caricatures and drawings of the Prophet Mohammed. It was an art prize that had attracted around 350 entries, with the winner to receive $10,000.
