Inspired by the spectacular rise and tragic fall of ballet legend Vaslav Nijinsky, the fated star of the Ballets Russes, John Neumeier’s Nijinsky will be the centrepiece of The Australian Ballet’s 2016 season.

The work, which had its world premiere in 2000 with the Hamburg Ballet, recalls the dancer and choreographer’s troubled family, his ill-starred romances, and the gravity-defying performances that brought him fame. It opens in Melbourne in September before travelling to Adelaide in October and Sydney in November.
