The first ever Stella Prize longlist has been revealed. The prize, which is a literary award exclusively for women, received over 200 original entries.

The prize was created to address the shortfall of women writers in literary awards, and is a spin-off of the Miles Franklin Award, named instead from author Stella Maria ‘Miles’ Franklin’s first name. The prize rewards one writer with a significant prize of $50,000.
