STC’s 2015 season a conversation between canon and new ideas

Though featuring a range of theatrical classics and established names (including a new production of King Lear starring Geoffrey Rush directed by Neil Armfield; Cate Blanchett and Richard Roxburgh in a fresh adaptation of Chekhov’s Platonov directed by Ireland’s John Crowley in his Australian debut; and Hugo Weaving in Beckett’s Endgame), Andrew Upton’s latest season for the Sydney Theatre Company (STC) also features a strong mix of new works by female playwrights.
