Tony Matelli, Sleepwalker, 2014.

A highly detailed sculpture of a near-naked somnambulist by US artist Tony Matelli has sparked debate at the all-girls college in Wellesley, Massachusetts.

Intended to promote an exhibition of Matelli’s work curated by Lisa Fischman at Wellesley College’s Davis Museum, the sculpture, entitled Sleepwalker, has alarmed some students to such an extent that some have created an online petition at Change.org calling for the artwork’s removal.
